Awards and scholarships are presented every year at the MOAND Annual Conference.

Outstanding Dietitian of the Year (ODY)
Recognizes the professional contributions of experienced dietitians in MOAND and encourages their continued participation in mentoring others and leading the Association.
Criteria for Selection:
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
Active participation in the national, state, or district association
Is a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or the equivalent in their own country if an international member.
Not previously selected for this award in current or any other affiliate
Demonstrated leadership, e.g., in legislation, research, education, management, etc., in the Association, community or employment
Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year (RYDY)
Recognizes the competence and activities of younger dietitians in MOAND and encourages their continued participation in Association affairs. RYDYs will be a resource from which the leadership of the Association will develop at the district, state, and national levels.
Criteria for Selection:
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Age limit as of May 1 deadline, 35 years or younger.
Active participation in the national, state, or district association.
Is a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or the equivalent in their own country if an international member.
Not previously selected as an RYDY in current or any other affiliate.
Demonstrated concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
Demonstrated leadership, e.g., in legislation, research, education, management, etc., either in the Association or employment.
Emerging Dietetic Leader (EDL)
The EDL Award recognizes the competence and activities of MOAND dietitians regardless of their age, who have made distinctive contributions early in their dietetics careers to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Criteria for Selection:
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
Initial practice experience not less than 5 years and not greater than 10 years. Interrupted careers or time periods not in practice, are not to be considered or rationed into the 5-10 years of professional practice experience.
Active participation in the national, state, or district association for at least 5 years.
Is a Registered Dietitian, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Dietetic Technician, Registered, or Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered or the equivalent in their own country if an international member.
Demonstrated concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
Demonstrated leadership, e.g., in legislation, research, education, management, etc., in the Association, community or employment.
Recognized Dietetic Technician of the Year (RDTY)
Recognizes the professional contributions of dietetic technicians in MOAND and encourages their continued participation in Association affairs.
Criteria for Selection:
Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Is a Dietetic Technician, Registered or Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered.
Active participation in national, affiliate, or district association.
Not previously selected for this award in current or any other affiliate.
Demonstrated concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
Demonstrated leadership, e.g., legislation, research, education, clinical dietetics, food service management, public relations, career guidance, etc., in the association or employment.
Outstanding Dietetic Student Awards (ODSA)
The purpose of the Outstanding Dietetics Student Award program is to recognize the emerging leadership and achievement of students in ACEND-accredited and approved dietetics education programs and encourage their participation in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Missouri is allowed to recognize one student from each type of dietetics education program (Didactic Program in Dietetics, Dietetic Internship, Coordinated Program, and Dietetic Technician Program) within the state.
Criteria for Selection of Outstanding Students:
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Students must be members by January 1st of the year in which they will receive the award. Students must supply their membership number; membership identification numbers will not be provided to a third party (i.e., educators).
Student enrolled in ACEND-accredited dietetics education program (CP, DI, DPD, DT, GP, IDE/FDE).
Demonstrated academic achievement as documented by letters from program faculty or preceptor.
Demonstrated leadership and professional potential, e.g., honors, student dietetic association activities, community service activities, etc.
Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA)
Recognizes the professional contributions of experienced, long-practicing dietitians of the Missouri Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and acknowledges their contribution over an extended period of time, to professional practice, to mentoring activities, and professional or community volunteer work.
Criteria for Selection:
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for at least 25 years.
Active participation in the national, state, and/or district association(s), and/or in other professional association activities at any level.
Leadership exhibited in one or several professional capacities.
Evidence of significant contribution to professionalism, and to the citizens and professionals in Missouri, such as:
Service to any professional association(s) at any level(s) [district/state/national]
Impact on area(s) of practice through employment over at least a 15 year period (employment need not be consecutive, and may be with several distinct employers).
Significant volunteer activity in the community over time.
Scholarships
The Missouri Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers four scholarships each year.
Missouri Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (MOAND) scholarship (up to $1000)
Northwest Region Scholarship ($500)- two student scholarships
Criteria for Selection:
Must be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and MOAND member to qualify for all scholarships. Must be living in or attending college in the Northwest Region to qualify for the Northwest Region Scholarship.
