Welcome to the St. Louis Dietetic Association!

The St. Louis Dietetic Association (SLDA) is a professional organization affiliated with the Missouri Dietetic Association (MDA) and the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
We have over 200 professional and student members representing several areas of practice and expertise. SLDA is pleased to provide members a variety of opportunities aimed at developing professional expertise as well as fostering new friendships and networking opportunities.
Members of the ADA and students in accredited dietetics educational programs are eligible to join SLDA. Here are just a few things we offer our members:
- Continuing education-we offer approximately 16 CEU’s per membership year. Educational topics offered are diverse to help meet the varying needs of our members. CEU meetings are usually held once per month during the months of September – December and February – May. We try to alternate meeting days and times in order to meet the needs of our members.
- Networking opportunities-with over 200 active members, SLDA provides excellent opportunities for networking. In addition to planned networking time at educational meetings, we also offer social opportunities for members to meet one another and form new friendships with members of similar interests.
- Service Projects-SLDA is committed to helping others. SLDA offers several opportunities for members to help St. Louis area residents and others around the world and country who are in need. From blood drives and team walks aimed at raising money for breast cancer, hunger, and other worthy causes, to adopting a family at the holidays and volunteering time for non-profit organizations, SLDA offers plenty of opportunities for dietetics professionals to contribute to a worthy cause.
- Membership Directory-Members of SLDA are given access to our membership directory. This valuable resource is available at your fingertips as a downloadable and printable PDF file and gives members access to dietetics professionals working in diverse practice settings with a broad range of experience and expertise.
- Social Meetings-Members of SLDA can meet other dietetics professionals in planned social settings. From our SLDA Book Club to planned dinner gatherings and other events in the works, SLDA is a great place to meet new friends or get back into the swing of things if you’ve taken a break away for a while.
- Leadership Opportunities-SLDA is a great place to help build and develop transferable leadership skills! Many active and influential dietitians known at the national level got their start working with SLDA! These members include ADA President, Connie Diekman; author of the American Dietetic Association’s Complete Food and Nutrition Guide, Roberta Duyff; and ADA Media Spokesperson, Marilyn Tanner-Blasier. Whether you aspire to be in the national limelight or you are looking to develop leadership and management skills that can help you climb the professional ladder, you’ll quickly discover that SLDA has plenty of opportunities for interested members to develop such skills.
